MAAX uses durable, high quality materials and innovative technology in manufacturing and design of its product to reduce the time you need to spend cleaning and caring for them. However, proper and regular maintenance is still vital.
Follow these general use and maintenance tips, as well as any that come with your MAAX product, and you will be rewarded with years of great service.
- BATHTUB / SHOWER TUB / SHOWER
Clean regularly with a non-abrasive cleaning spray, cream-based cleansing agent or dishwashing soap. Never use abrasive cleansers, scrapers, metal brushes, or anything that could scratch or dull the surface.
Add luster and remove fine scratches from acrylic tub and shower surfaces by cleaning and polish regularly with MAAX Lumacream, a specially formulated product available from MAAX dealers. Regular car wax may also be used.
Help prevent dust build-up on acrylic tub and shower surfaces with MAAX Lumashine, a special acrylic surface cleaner that creates an anti-static, dust-repellent surface as it cleans. Lumashine is available from MAAX dealers.
Remove plaster residue with a plastic or wooden spatula wrapped in a moist cloth.
Repair nicked or damaged surfaces immediately using MAAX repair kits for acrylic surfaces, available from MAAX dealers.
Use therapeutic products with caution such as bath oils, salts and bubble bath that may damage your tub's finish, especially when applied non-diluted and directly in the bath. Read directions on these products closely and, if needed, test on a small inconspicuous surface prior to use.
- SHOWER DOORS
Clean your shower doors after every use. This usually only requires using a squeegee to wipe water and soap residue off the interior. If you have hard water, spray with 1/3 white vinegar and 2/3 water solution prior to wiping.
Wipe your shower door track regularly with a dry cloth after showering. MAAX offers unique shower door systems, the Sure-Glide and EZ Kleen systems, that help prevent water and soap accumulation but still require periodic wiping.
Replace shower door gaskets (horizontal and vertical) if any tear or become discolored. These are easy to purchase and change, however, specific showers require specific gaskets. Check your purchase invoice for details.
- AIR MASSAGE SYSTEMS
Clean like any other bathtub (see above). No other specific maintenance is required.
Jet dry cycle automatically runs for 30 seconds to dry the jet covers after the system has been activated for 20 minutes.
Turn on the blowers for 30 seconds after emptying the bathtub to dry the jet covers if you take a bath without operating the whirlpool system or your bathtub remains full of water for more than 10 minutes after the system has been turned off. Many of our systems have an automatic drying option pre-programmed. Check your installation manual for more details or contact our specialists.
- WHIRLPOOL SYSTEMS
Clean piping and pump monthly with Mister MAAX cleanser. Fill the bathtub with hot water (max. 104°F/40°C) to two inches (5 cm) above the jets, add the cleansing agent, and turn on the whirlpool system for 10 minutes. Empty the bathtub. Use cold water to rinse, turning the system back on for ten minutes, while keeping the air controls turned off.
Never use dishwashing soap as a replacement for bath soaps. These soaps are highly foaming. They can create excessive suds and can clog your whirlpool system.
Use therapeutic products with caution such as bath oils, salts and bubble bath that may damage your tub's system. Read directions on these products closely and, if needed, test prior to use.
- SHOWER BODY JET SYSTEMS
The jets in our MAAX IES, AquaSens and Integrated Multi-Jet shower systems work like normal showerheads and do not require any specific maintenance.
